What is MOCKX

A real exchange that makes you a better trader

MOCKX runs an actual matching engine: limit and market orders, price-time priority, partial fills, position limits. When you get filled, someone on the other side made you pay for it.

And you get both sides of the craft. Trade live against real people, or against bot market makers quoting a live order book on easy, medium, and hard. Then climb the global leaderboard.

01

HOST CREATES A ROOM

Design a custom market: a binary event contract or a standard instrument. Or pick a built-in MockX Game. Make the room public or share the private join code.

02

TRADERS TRADE

Everyone quotes and trades on a depth-of-market ladder. Place, join, lift, or sweep a level with one click or key press.

03

REVEAL & SETTLE

The host reveals the true value. Positions settle against it, the leaderboard updates, and the next round begins.

Trade from a depth-of-market ladder, the same tool futures traders use. One click hits a bid, joins a level, or sweeps the book.

rounds

Host-run rounds

Timed rounds with pause, halt, and reveal-and-settle. The host is the referee: they set the contract, watch the floor, and call the close.

Who it's for

Built for people who think in prices and probabilities

breaking in

Pivoting into quant finance

The market-making game is how trading firms interview. Rehearse the real thing before you are across the table from a trader: quote two-sided, manage inventory, and survive adverse selection. Every round is interview reps, and you learn to update on new information in seconds and to explain your P&L afterwards. Walk in having actually done it, not just read about it.

sharpening up

Prediction-market traders

Trade binary contracts against live opponents and learn to price probability under pressure. It is the same muscle behind every event-market edge, minus the fees and the bankroll risk. Practice updating your odds as information drips in, sizing positions around your edge, and getting flat when the market clearly knows more than you do.

clubs | competitions

Student trading clubs & competitions

The best way to learn trading in a low-stakes environment. Run weekly club games and university trading competitions on one dedicated platform. Custom licenses and partnerships are available: reach out at hello@mockx.org to make MOCKX the home floor for your club and every competition you host.

staying sharp

Seasoned traders & desks

Run internal games for your desk or team. Custom contracts on anything you can settle, position limits you control, and a P&L column that settles all arguments. When the desk clears out, it's a low-stakes way to keep the craft sharp and prove your reads on a live book.

Why we're building this

Real trading practice shouldn't live behind closed doors

MOCKX started as an internal tool. We first built it for our own trading club at an Ivy League school: a private floor where members ran mock markets against each other instead of risking real money. The market-making game is how trading firms interview and train, where someone knows the true value, everyone else quotes two-sided, and you learn fast what adverse selection feels like.

Then it clicked that our club wasn't the only place that wanted this. Prediction markets are taking off and there's nowhere good to practice. Most retail traders have never worked a real order book. And people have always liked trading against each other, whether for money, for fun, or to settle some argument nobody can otherwise win. So we opened the floor to everyone. The kind of practice that used to sit behind trading desks and invite-only clubs is open to anyone now, and any community that wants to build around it can make MOCKX their home floor.

Today MOCKX is a real exchange, open to anyone with a browser. Trading is a skill you learn by doing, and this is where you get to do it before real money is on the line.
